Vaccinations
Vaccinations for Breeding Sphynx Cats
We prioritize the health of our breeding Sphynx cats to ensure they are strong and disease-free before producing kittens. All our adult Sphynx receive comprehensive vaccinations according to veterinary guidelines, including vaccines for feline viral rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), calicivirus, panleukopenia (FVRCP), and rabies. Keeping our breeding cats up to date protects them from contagious diseases and helps prevent transmission to their kittens. We also maintain regular wellness checks and parasite prevention to support their overall health. This careful vaccination protocol forms the foundation for producing healthy, robust litters.
Vaccination Protocol for Sphynx Kittens
From birth, our Sphynx kittens receive close veterinary monitoring to ensure they start life healthy and protected. Kittens receive their first round of vaccinations between 6 and 8 weeks of age, typically the FVRCP vaccine (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia). Booster shots are administered every 3 to 4 weeks until the kitten is about 16 weeks old. Rabies vaccination is given according to state regulations and veterinary recommendations.
This vaccination schedule is critical to build strong immunity and protect kittens during their vulnerable early months. We also provide routine deworming treatments alongside vaccinations to prevent common intestinal parasites.
Linking Health from Breeder to New Home
Our strict health and vaccination standards for both breeding Sphynx cats and kittens help create a seamless transition of care to new owners. Before a kitten leaves for their new home, we provide detailed vaccination records and a veterinary health certificate. This ensures you have a clear history of all vaccinations, deworming, and any other treatments your Sphynx kitten has received.
Our goal is to set your Sphynx up for a healthy life from day one, backed by responsible breeder care.
What New Owners Should Do
After bringing your Sphynx kitten home, it’s essential to continue following your veterinarian’s recommended vaccination schedule. Most veterinarians advise completing the full series of core vaccines with boosters during the first four to six months of age.
Keep a copy of all vaccination records and inform your vet about your kitten’s health history from our program. Regular wellness exams and parasite prevention should continue throughout your cat’s life. Staying current with vaccines protects your Sphynx and helps prevent the spread of contagious diseases in your community.
Supporting Your Sphynx’s Long-Term Health
Vaccinations are just one part of maintaining your Sphynx cat’s health. Proper nutrition, socialization, environmental enrichment, and regular veterinary visits all contribute to a strong immune system. Because Sphynx cats have unique skincare needs due to their hairless coats, routine bathing and skin monitoring are also important parts of long-term care.
We remain available to answer questions and provide guidance on health and vaccinations for your Sphynx’s entire life. By working together, we help ensure your Sphynx grows into a happy, healthy companion who thrives for many years to come.
